Soul-soothing music... - WXLV radio host, Phil Stahl. Stinging, sweet, dark and personal. Bees in a Bottle is a female-fronted, introspective folk-rock band from the Greater Philadelphia region. The band originated as an acoustic collaboration between husband and wife, Christine & Chad McAllister. Drummer, Ian Vogan joined the band in 2011, and allowed for more electric expansion from their initial Welch/Rawlings-esque acoustic sound. Now a four-piece, Bees in a Bottle is steadily evolving. Led by singer/songwriter/guitarist Christine McAllister, the band's sound is dynamic and distinct. The songs are finely-crafted with instrumentation ranging from a solitary guitar and voice, to intense arrangements of acoustic and electric guitars, bass, and drums. The melodies are beautiful and the lyrics, compelling and smart. Quiet Room is the band's full-length debut. It was self-produced by the band and recorded at Morningstar Studios with Grammy award-winning producer/engineer, Glenn Barratt. The album is alternately hopeful and dark, intense and intimate. The guitar tones sparkle and growl with gorgeous melodies, while the drums rumble and pulse beneath. Christine's voice, full of warmth and emotion, layers harmonies on itself, and delivers lyrics that compel reflection. Quiet Room contains 13 gems that come directly from a vulnerable place.
