貴重で上質なレゲエ/ダブ音源のアーカイヴァルなリイシューで知られる名門＜Pressure Sounds＞が、近年も再評価が高まり続けている名シンガーBarry Brownの音源集をリリース。

名シンガーBarry Brown。Jah SmileというDJ名義での活動の後、Rod TaylorとJohnny LeeとのグループThe Aliensでも活動。1970年代の中期から後期にかけては、ジャマイカが誇る名プロデューサーBunny Leeの元でシンガーとして大ブレイク。その生々しい歌声には、近年も再評価が高まり続けている。

今作『Praises』を構成するBarry Brownの楽曲群は、オリジナルの制作はBunny Leeプロデュースの元でバックはThe Aggrovatorsが務めジャマイカ録音。2020年のロックダウン中に新世代のダブ・ミキサー、Paolo Baldiniによってイタリアのアランビック・スタジオにてそのオリジナルの録音を忠実に抽出しミックス。Santa Davisが演奏したオリジナルのドラムはどれも素晴らしく印象的で、オリジナルのプロダクションに忠実であるだけでなく、今回の抽出とミックス作業で新たな息吹が加わっている。

CDには2曲のボーナス・トラックを追加収録。国内仕様盤には解説書が封入。
