The 2004 release of Akwid's KOMP 104.9 RADIO COMPA provided Francisco and Sergio Gomez with their biggest success to date. After being nominated for a Grammy during the prior year, the Californian brothers honed their mix of traditional Mexican banda and Latino rap even further. On KOMP 104.9, the duo lets the Spanish rhymes flow, with the track list broken up by tongue-in-cheek radio announcements. As always, a lively horn section resounds over the heavy beats, particularly on the party-starting "Jamas Imagine." However, the following song "Como Cuando Y Done" proves to be a melancholy, acoustic-guitar-driven tune, revealing the range of this impressive and unique group.
