リード自作自演のシェイクスピア集、貴重な録音であり資料的価値はある。緩徐楽章での美しい響きが印象的。だが、全体通して指揮者リードの音楽運びに締まりがないのと、金管、特にトランペットに難があり興をそがれるのが残念。今後、これらの曲の決定的な名演が出現することを祈る。
