Mirga Grainyte-Tyla/City Of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra The British Project - Mirga Grainyte-Tyla and the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra launched The British Project on Deutsche Grammophon last October with an e-album of Brittens Sinfonia da Requiem. That was followed earlier this year by a second digital release, presenting the Symphonic Suite from Waltons opera Troilus and Cressida. The British Project is now appearing on CD, with the Britten and Walton works framed by Elgars Sospiri and Vaughan Williams Fantasia on a Theme by Thomas Tallis.

ミルガ・グラジニーテ=ティーラは初めて聴...

ミルガ・グラジニーテ=ティーラは初めて聴く指揮者である。イエロー・レーベル初の女性指揮者だという。 このレーベルには先に２つのアルバムが出ているが未聴。 当盤は”ブリティッシュ・プロジェクト”とあるが、バーミンガム市響との、そういうプロジェクトがあるのだろうか？ 最初はエルガーの”ソスピーリ(ため息)。実に美しい弦楽アンサンブルに陶然となる。このオケの響きは実に良い。 2曲目はブリテンのシンフォニア・ダ・レクィエム。戦前日本の皇紀2600年祝典曲として送られて来たが、内容がふさわしくないという理由で無視されたもの。ブリテンの亡き父母を追悼して作曲されたものだから、最初から別の意図があったのだろう。この時代にこの様な作品を作曲したブリテンは本当に凄いと改めて思った。 3曲目はウォルトン(C.パーマー編曲)の組曲『トロイラスとクレシダ』。オペラからの編曲で、フィナーレのサウンドがいかにもイギリスっぽく、カッコいい。 4曲目はヴォーン・ウィリアムズのトマス・タリスの主題による幻想曲。最初のエルガーも良かったが、この作品の方が音楽が豊かで、胸が熱くなる。実に素晴らしい。 最後に、指揮者について書こうと思うのだが、まだ適当な言葉が見つからない。
