レハール:喜歌劇『ルクセンブルク伯爵』

貧乏画家アルマンとその恋人ジュリエット。2人は貧しくてもとても愛し合っています。しかし彼女の友人であるオペラ歌手アンジェールがロシアの大金持ちに求婚されていることを知り、ちょっと羨ましくも思っているのが本当のところ。アルマンは、彼ら貧乏学生のパトロンであるルクセンブルク伯爵ルネ(芸術にお金をつぎ込んでしまい、今では彼も一文無し！)と一緒に住んでいます。ある夜、そんなルネに「若い女性と偽装結婚してくれたら謝礼を払う」という話が飛び込んできます。その話を引き受けたルネ、相手の顔も見ることなく結婚契約書にサインするのですが・・・さあ、どうなりますことやら。
　1909年、レハールがわずか3週間で完成させたというこのオペレッタは、主役であるルネが魅力的でないと始まりません。ここで歌っているのは世紀の名歌手エーベルハルト・ヴェヒター。彼は実際に爵位も持っているのだそうで、溢れる気品は隠しようがありません。アンジェール役のスーキスも光り輝くばかりの美貌であり、2人が並んで歌う姿はまるでハリウッド映画さながら。レハールの美しいメロディが花を添えます。パリの下町を忠実に再現した瀟洒なセットにもご注目。(輸入元情報)

It is almost impossible to imagine a more enjoyable operetta than the one afforded by this DVD. With a great musical score, clever script and a supremely romantic story, this is one DVD no one will regret buying. Eberhard Waechter gives a wonderfully rounded performance as the count. Lilian Sukis looks and sings like a million dollars. Who can ever forget her ”Soll Ich? Soll Ich nicht?” The operetta is shot as a movie, and escapes wonderfully well from the contraints of a stage performance. Fabulous!
