Klang der Welt - Russia present two works written by Russian composers during the 19th century that, to a great extent, are still unfamiliar to a wider audience: Alexander Borodin’s String Quartet No. 2 in D major (1881) and Nikolai Rimski-Korsakow’s Quintet in B-flat major for Piano, Flute, Clarinet, Horn and Bassoon.
The ‘Kammerensemble Classic’ of the ‘Deutsche Oper Berlin’ and the ‘Wolf-Quartett’ performed both of these Russian works during the 2006/2007 season. The recordings reproduce part of the programme that was performed in Kaliningrad’s Philharmonic Hall during the XXII International Arts Festival. ( NCA )
