20世紀を代表する指揮者である、ストコフスキーは編曲家として、バッハを初めとする様々な作品を残しましたが、その中でも有名な作品にムソルグスキーの展覧会の絵の編曲があります。このCDは全曲ストコフスキー編曲のムソルグスキーの曲を集めた意欲的なアルバムです。指揮のナッセンは作曲家、指揮者と言う人物だそうで、ストコフスキーが描いたスペクタクルで時にグロテスクな世界を見事に表現しています。クリーヴランド管弦楽団も腕利き揃い、意外とロシア的な音色も出していて驚き。 1995～96年の録音、音質は問題ないです。
