西暦２００９年、戦闘種族ゼントラーディと遭遇し、戦闘に入った宇宙戦艦マクロスは今、地球への帰路にあった。土星圏タイタン軌道上で敵の陽動作戦にあい、その艦内に敵部隊の侵入を許してしまう。一方、都市空間を擁する内部では、まさにアイドル歌手リン・ミンメイのファーストコンサートが行われていた。コンサート会場に出現した敵から逃げまどうミンメイ。敵の巨大な手がミンメイを捕らえた瞬間、彼女の前に現れたのは、戦闘機バルキリーのパイロット、一条 輝であった。
