『ソロモン』は、1748年、既に63歳に達していたヘンデルが作曲したオラトリオです。旧約聖書に現れる古代イスラエルの王ソロモンを題材にし、第２幕には『大岡裁き』の場面があることでも知られています。今日では専ら、第３幕の前奏曲である『シバの女王の入城』ばかりが有名ですが、作品全体も晩年のヘンデルの名曲が多々あります。
