「風と共に去りぬ=映画音楽名曲集」は’76ＬＰ(SOPO132)で聞いている。このすばらしいアルバムが壮大な“タラのテーマ”で始まる。“階段の上の暗闇”も素敵だ。また、こんなに格調高い“栄光への脱出”は他では中々聞けない。繰り返し聞いてきた“魅惑のワルツ”、甘く美しい“アパートの鍵貸します”、“タミー・テル・ミー・トゥルー”、軽妙な“僕の伯父さん”、“息子と恋人”、最後にしっとりと“荒馬と女”で終わる。知らない映画もあるが曲はすばらしい。「ジェラシー」はアルバム全体がゴージャスの一言で表せるのではなかろうか。“ジェラシー”、“ビギン・ザ・ビギン”のほか“ダンシング・オン・ザ・シーリング”、“モア・ザン・ユー・ノウ”、“ソフィスケーテッド・レディ”が好きだ。“ティア・ワナ”はカットされている。

パーシー・フェイスの最高傑作は「ブーケ/ブーケ・オヴ・ラヴ」と思われる方は多いでしょう。セカンド・チョイスはこれでは？アレンジの多彩さは本当に楽しく、ガーシュインやルロイ・アンダーソンの引用もニヤリとさせられます。個人的には「ザット・オールド・ブラック・マジック」が気に入っています。

これも忘れることのできない美しいアルバム。”4”や”17”が目当てだったが、”12”の哀感に満ちたメロディーも心に残る。間違っているかも知れないが、フランク・シナトラの映画に使われていたように記憶している。流麗なストリングスが奏でる、しかしどこか不安を漂わせる灰色の曲想。
