第1番 BWV806の前奏曲冒頭、1624年製ルッカース・チェンバロの音色がかけあがっていく。まるで噴水の様に勢いよく。一転、第2曲目はじっくりと縦と横にじっくり編まれた音楽の織物を堪能していく。そうかと思うと第4番では楽曲の分析を我々にも共有させてくれている。つまり、この銘器をとことん味わい尽くしているのだ。ここで聴かれるイギリス組曲を一番喜んで聴いているのは演奏者本人・渡邊順生氏だと思う。聴いていてもこの素晴らしい楽器を使ってバッハの名作を奏でられる喜びがあふれているように思う。 　演奏は流麗な行書体の書を見るような雰囲気。分析トラックはあるものの、堅苦しい学究的な四角四面な演奏にはなっていないと思う。私が聴いているチェンバロによるイギリス組曲は、当盤のほかに鈴木雅明（BIS、2016年　愛用の楽器を用い、丁寧な楷書の趣きというべきか？)、武久源蔵（ALM、2022年　フォルテピアノも使い、他にない意匠の崩し字でしたためた書を連想させる）の計3点。どれも楽しく聴かせてもらっている。三者三様の楽器を用い、演奏にもアプローチにも個性が出ているが共通するのは楽器やバッハに対する敬意。登る道筋が違っていても目指す頂は一つというところだろうか。どれもおすすめだが、ここでは渡邊順生の銘器との出会いに焦点を絞ってお薦めしておきたい。
