The project of the complete recording of the Violin Concertos by Giuseppe Tartini began in 1996 and thanks to the tenacious, enthusiastic research work of the Arte dell’Arco ensemble is now about to be completed.
Work on this project has proved to be quite demanding over the years; the conditions of the manuscripts, the variety of manuscript sources and ancient prints and the generally limited quantity of material about the composer from Pirano have all made the research extremely complicated, comparable indeed to the work done on the Bach Cantatas by G. Leonhardt and N. Harnoncourt in the Sixties and Seventies.
The musicians of L’Arte dell’Arco have thus carried out an exceptionally pioneering task, bringing to light many scores and elaborating a coherent, convincing style of interpretation.
Thanks to the collaboration of Nicola Reniero, the problems of interpreting autograph texts and missing parts have been overcome brilliantly through scrupulous labours of comparison and text completion which took into consideration Tartini’s models of form, harmony and structure.
Today Dynamic presents Volume 16 ”FELICE ETA’ DELL’ORO”, a double-CD set featuring eleven concertos, all dating from the second period of Tartini’s creative activity.
Dynamic expects to publish the last volume (17th) during 2011 and thus conclude the publication of these unpublished works. ( Dynamic )
