バーンスタインの良さは、良い意味でのスタンドプレーヤーです。 「やりすぎ」を納得させてしまうところの芸が売り物です。 このCDでも、それが大いに発揮されており、楽しく聴けました。 録音が残念ながらDGのデジタルにしては少し「？」で抜けが感じられないものになっていました。これなら、アナログながら、ショルティ・シカゴ、アバド・ロンドン、デービス・コンセルトヘボウの方が間違いなく良い音を聴かせてくれます。あまりにライブにこだわりすぎたことが原因かもしれません。

晩年のバーンスタインの音楽はすべてが遅い。 １９５９年録音のニューヨークフィルのバーンスタインとは 別人だと思ったほうがいい。 リズムも鈍く途中で飽きる。
