開幕から音楽、舞台効果ともに迫力十分だ。第3幕の第2場は演出家の想像力が問われるところだが、モシンスキーはややステレオタイプではあるものの、一応の効果は上げている。Vickersの歌唱は、初めから終わりまで絶叫調で幾分一本調子。もう少し、声に強弱や陰影がある方が説得力が高まるだろう。

来日公演と同じ演出でまずは安心して観られる内容である。Verrettも声自体の魅力より役作りにおいて聴かせてくれる。VickersやSummersは来日時と同じだが共に的確な表現と歌唱で文句ない。Metの録画よりは作品の本質をよく表していると思う。
