    許氏が指摘したように、表現に誤りもありますが、多方面の評伝を読み込んだ上での伝記であり一読に値します。このシリーズは「生涯編」と「作品編」から成り立っていますが、本著は間違いなく「生涯編」が読みどころ。本書末尾にあるチャイコフスキーの１８９４年の予定を見れば、協奏曲を２つ書く予定があったとのこと・・。「たられば」ですが、その楽器の奏者は彼の死を恨んでも恨み切れないと思います・・。
