Volume one introduced Julie and ”Cry Me a River” to her fans.
I kept the 12” version of both of these for the cover shots.
But the albums are great too. Glad they are coming out again for those who may not have heard her. I love ”Laura” on volume one and volume two carries on the great tradition.

One of Julie’s earliest albums it is also a winner. I did keep the LP version of this as well for all those super photos. Bobby Troup wrote ”February Brings the Rain” and ”This October” for her and she does a great job. I think her ”September in the Rain” is the best version of that song. Pete King and his orchestra back her up.

This is one of Julie’s finest albums. Recorded in her home it certainly captures her down home style. She is ably backed by Jimmy Rowles and jazz musicians. I am very happy to see this one reissued.

While not a complete collection of her singles it will suffice until someone does the entire output. Julie recorded singles after 1962 and ”I’ll Cry Tomorrow” does not appear. It does appear on Toshiba’s THE GLORY OF JULIE LONDON as does an unreleased single. For Julie fans who are trying to collect everything ”It Had to Be You” is not the single but the track from her EASY DOES IT album.

I am so glad this is being reissued. This is the lush vocal side of Ruth and she is ably backed up by Peter Matz. ”On the good ship, Lollipop” sounds like Barbra Streisand’s ”Happy Days Are Here Again” but the best track is the Jimmy McHugh/Dorothy Fields version of ”Porgy” A great album to listen to late at night.
