Path To War

This album was created with conflict in mind. Having intricate melodies and piano parts akin to that of Tori Amos and Kate Bush, the content of this record dabbles in romance, friendship, and politics; all the makings of a good fight. 'La danse' screams for you to dance that fine line between safe and unsafe, while 'American Perfume' drudges up images of Dorian Gray and likens those philosophies to contemporary America. Even at the album's calmest with 'Orange Revolver,' 'Fantasie in Gm,' and 'American Lullaby,' there are always hints of trouble on the horizon. 'Dinner' is a fun kitschy tune that dramatically displays a 1950's housewife on the verge of murdering her abusive husband while 'Anchored' is indie pop/rock at it's best. Hu does not disappoint with his unabashed vocals and theatrical performance on the piano. A little steam punk, a little pop, and a little theater make 'Path to War' a great release for 2012.
