1971年にフィラデルフィアを代表するプロデューサー、ケニー・ギャンブル&レオン・ハフによって設立されたPhiladelphia International Records（PIR）の設立50周年記念して発売されるベスト盤。オージェイズは、オハイオ州で1958年に結成されたヴォーカル・トリオ。エディ・リヴァートを中心にした熱い歌声と強いメッセージは、フィリー・ソウルそのものともいえる。1972年に発売されたアルバム『Back Stabbers』（裏切り者のテーマ）はギャンブル&ハフ総指揮のもと聖地シグマ・サウンド・スタジオで録音され、収録曲「裏切り者のテーマ」が全米3位、「ラヴ・トレイン」が全米No.1を獲得。オージェイズはPIRを代表するグループとなった。
