サザン・ソウル・ファン待望のCD化。60年代初めに残された重要作品2枚のLPの復刻CD化、世界初を含む。
サザンソウル・ファンにとって根強い人気を保っているのがケリー・ブラザーズ。ミシシッピ出身のグループでアンドリュウ、カーティス＆ロバート・ケリーの3兄弟が中心となって始まった。教会で歌い始めたよくある話しで仲のいい兄弟グループだった。
日本では特に60年代中後期での作品に打ちのめされた方は多いはず。エクセロ・レーベル、シムズ・レーベルと評価が高かったのだ。
そんな中、彼らの65年以前の重要作品2枚のアルバムがなかなかCD化されずファンはヤキモキしていた。1枚はKING 810で62年に発表されたゴスペル・ソウル・アルバム、もう1枚は翌年63年にR&B色の強い、よりポップになったアルバム（KING　865）だ。
ザ・キング・ピンズ（変名）として作られた865番からはスマッシュ・ヒットが生まれ、その後の運命を変えていくことになった。
本CDはその2アルバムの2IN1である。
