ジャクソン・ブラウンを知った作品。これを期に彼の過去の名作群を聴いたのだが、個人的には時代を映した彼の代表作と言っても過言ではない名盤だと思う！『フォー・アメリカ』『イン・ザ・シェイプ・オブ・ア・ハート』『ライヴス・イン・ザ・バランス』と佳曲ぞろいで今聞いても古さは感じられない！

大好きなジャクソンブラウン。レイトフォーザスカイ等、初期の作品がクローズアップされがちだけれども、中期・後期の作品も素晴らしいものがあると思います。私にとっては、この Lives In The Balance もその１つ。何といっても１曲目の For America が素晴らしい。楽曲も良いが演奏も素敵です。In The Shape of The heartも名曲だと思いますし。 初期の作品だけでなく、中期・後期の作品にも耳を傾けて欲しいと、ファンの１人として、心から願っています。

発売当時にFor Americaのプロモビデオを見ました。 こういう巨大国アメリカを題材にした曲は夢があると同時に巨大国に太刀打ちできない個人の悲しさみたいなものも感じます。 歌詞が理解できないのでサウンドからの印象ですが。 昔キングクリムゾンにいたIウォーレスがドラムを叩いているのもいいです。 アメリカンロックの秀作と思いますが、国内盤は生産されていないというのが残念。
