Three CD set. Carnegie Hall is a quadruple live album by Frank Zappa and The Mothers of Invention, released posthumously on October 31, 2011, by the Zappa Family Trust. It is a mono recording of the two shows given on October 11, 1971 at Carnegie Hall in New York. It is sixth installment that is dedicated to the posthumous release of complete Zappa concerts, following the releases of FZ: OZ (2002), Buffalo (2007), Wazoo (2007), Philly '76 (2009) and Hammersmith Odeon (2010). Fans can now rejoice again as they hear these inspired live versions of Call Any Vegetable, Dog Breath, Peaches En Regalia, Magdalena, King Kong, Who Are the Brain Police?, Auspicious Occasion, Pound for a Brown, Sleeping in a Jar, Wonderful Wino, The Mud Shark, Cruising for Burgers, Billy the Mountain Pts. 1 & 2 and more!

71年10月11日、ニューヨークの歴史あるカーネギー・ホールでのライブ。 フル収録で、4枚組み。トータルタイムは、4時間超えの大ボリューム！ ディスク１に前座でしょうか、ドゥ・ワップ、アカペラグループのThe Persuasionsの演奏が約25分収録されているのが驚き。初めて知ったグループで、これからＣＤ購入しようと思います。 さて、フロー＆エディを擁したマザーズ。バンドの音はスカスカしている分、その強力なボーカルは想像以上にバンドサウンドの要でありました。リズム隊はファンキーで、ザッパのギターソロも同様で鋭い。この布陣では、アルバム「ジャスト・アナザー・バンド・フロムL.A.」がありますが、歴代バンドの中で一番歌に堪能できるサウンドの全容が、この作品で明らかになったといえるでしょう。 ディスク２、Ｄ4「King Kong」はインプロたっぷりで30分以上、珍しいＤ6「Who Are The Brain Police?」のライブは、ファンキーに。 ディスク４の「Billy The Mountain」は47分以上の長尺です。これをやりきるバンドの力量に脱帽。テーマはボーカルにあり。 このＣＤもファンは、絶対買いです！！ このライブの二ヶ月後、ザッパはロンドンでステージから突き落とされ、療養生活に入ったためバンドは解散します。 その後、グランド・ワズーといったインスト中心の作品やオーケストラとの共演ライブを行い、73年新生マザーズでは自ら本格的に歌い始めるザッパでした。 今度は、そちらをどーんとお願いします！
