Two of a Kind (1982) Earl Klugh with Bob James. Bob James performed the soft and gooey theme for the TV show Taxi (known as Angela (theme from 'Taxi'). Hardly what you'd think of as a virtuoso performance in Jazz circles. But in his unbeatable matchup with Earl Klugh (the master behind Dr. Macumba and Cabo Frio), the whole is greater than the sum of the parts. From the hauntingly delicate strains of their opener (The Falcon), through the joyful strains of Where I Wander, to the brilliant salute to Wes Montgomery (the aptly named finale Wes), this team does not fail to impress. This album dates from 1982, but still sounds fresh and sharp after 25+ years.
