Bartoli(Ms)Terfel(Br)Opera Duets: Chung Myung-whun / St.cecilia.o

Promoters of operatic performances and recordings learned quickly in the 1990s that the surest way to guarantee sold-out houses and hit CDs was to engage the services of either Cecilia Bartoli or Bryn Terfel. Two of the opera world's immensely talented young superstars, Bartoli and Terfel rarely fail to please their fans. Put them together, and any project is a guaranteed triumph.
Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart hardly needs help selling tickets and discs, but it is in his operas that many of these two singers' performances have been given. And so it is that much of this, their first recording together, is Mozart. CECILIA & BRYN opens with the first two scenes of 'Le Nozze di Figaro,' with Bartoli and Terfel in the roles they sang to great acclaim at the Metropolitan Opera just a few months after this recording was made. Myung-Whun Chung and his Santa Cecilia Orchestra provide spirited accompaniment for this pair of stars, both of whom are captured here in radiant form at the beginnings of their careers.
