米国軍楽隊は近年まで、商業目的の録音は厳禁だったため自主盤は制作されてもその音源は発売される事はなかったのですが、最近は規制が緩くなりこのCDのような元自主盤と思われる音源も出回るようになりました。 このCDは、アメリカ空軍中央軍楽隊が、1995〜2002年まで隊長を務めた、ローウェル・グラハム大佐指揮の下、1999年に録音した物で、歌劇や喜歌劇の序曲を演奏した物です。 ちょっとマイナー路線の選曲で(例J.オッフェンバック作『鼓手長の娘』、F.スッペ作『ウィーンの朝昼晩』等々)そこがこのCDの最大の魅力ではあるのですが、渋めなので、派手めでイケイケな曲が好みの方には合わないかも知れません。 空軍中央軍楽隊の演奏はまさに凄い！の一言であり、言葉で表すより聴いて貰ったほうが良いでしょう。 尚、使用楽譜はバンド秘蔵と思われる譜面もありますが、市販されている譜面もあり(スッペ等)参考演奏としても使えると思います。 24ビットデジタル・レコーディングで音質は良いです。
