Extremely rhythmically precise and yet played in large arcs： Herbert von Karajan cast his best soloists from the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra on this recording. Modern instruments and all of that in the hugh Philharmonie in Berlin? The result is extremely intimate music-making. The SACD finally gives the harpsichord continuo its spatial presence, none of the previous releases on CD or LP is able to reproduce the richness of these recordings as the SACD does here. A DSD transfer based on the original mix of the master tape by G＆#252;nter Hermanns, realized by the Emil-Berliner-Studios. Bravo!

Perfect remastering by the Emil Berliner Studios. Balance, sound and impression excellent. I think this cycle has never sounded better with this SACD edition. Breathtakingly beautiful!

The locatelli typical Karajan, wonderful music, thew Schubert slightly in the first movement, but usual lyrical in the 2nd movement, the Zarathustra in the opening just as explosive as the studio recording of 1959 and the Dilierienwalzer as a confession to Austria. Paris was Karajan’s favorite city, here he gave especially nice concerts. For a live recording of 1962 I am amazed by the clarity and warmth of the sound. Experts have done a great job in the restoration here. A concert that I count among to my favorite live recordings Karajans. Recommendation!
