Most probably THE indie album of 2008!

The group uses clever phrasing of their vocals and infuses it brillantly with instrumentation.

Fans might be a bit disappointed with ”Nocturnal” - Flica’s second album after the brilliant ”Windvane ＆ Window” debut album.

Although it has the signature Flica sound, it seems to drag on a little bit too much - and we don’t really get to hear anything that pushes the musical ear, as we did with the first album.

This being said, the album is supposed to represent the night- time evenings in which Flica spent as a teenager. Prehaps this over-sombre sound is what Flica wanted.

A breathe of fresh air comes to mind when listening to this album. It’s definitely one of my top albums of 2008. Haruka Nakamura captures the under-valued sounds of everyday life and mixes it perfectly with melancholic melodies and nostalgic harmonies.

This is the sound that you would expect coming from Schole Records; Sweet electro-acoustic folktronica.

Select tracks which I recommend are ”arne”, ”luz” and ”cielo”.
