　ゲルネ＆エッシェンバッハによる素晴らし...

　ゲルネ＆エッシェンバッハによる素晴らしい「美しき水車屋の娘」。　数ある「水車屋」の中でも筆頭にあげたいディスクだ。テノールだと水車屋の娘に振り回され（または勝手にいれあげて）ずたずたになっていく青年の心の過程がリアルに伝わるのに対し、バリトン（特にゲルネの深い呼吸による低音）では、少し客観的に聴こえる気もする。しかし、だからこそ詩の内容がストレートに響いてくるのではないだろうか。その意味で、このディスクの歌唱は痛切に心に届いてくる。　　そして、特筆すべきはエッシェンバッハのピアノ。　　ある時、ふと聴いたら、彼のピアノ（特に「朝の挨拶」、「涙の雨」や「水車職人と小川」、「小川の子守歌」など）の最初の１音に強く心を揺さぶられたのだ。その曲に潜む痛み、そして内奥にある「若き職人の、傷つきやすい心への共感、そして死への恐れと憧憬」とも言えそうな仄暗いものが、その第１音から滲み出てきたように思えたのだ。歌の前、伴奏の音にも「詩」が含まれているのだ。　　このディスクが発売されてかなり経ってからの投稿だが、エッシェンバッハのピアノ（もちろんゲルネの歌唱も）を聴いてほしいと考え、今更ながらレビューします。
