In the States the series' Vol.1 (2 DVDs: '74 - 77) was released in Oct 2006, Vol.2 (3DVDs: '78 - '91) in Aug 2007 and Vol.3 ('92 - '00) in Dec 2007. The quality and plenitude of the contents and its value as the band's archives were much praised. However they were released in Region Code 1 (North America) only, so many of their fans on this side of Pacific had to give up on these titles, unless they luckily own region-free DVD players.
But now there's news that would make us all happy - those titels will be relaunched as Japanese editions! And what's more, while the American editions had different bonus discs depending on sales channels (e.g. Tower Records versions carry different tracks than HMV's etc) the initial-exclusive box set will contain all of those alternate, varying takes and tracks that were available in the States! Hence, a total of 18 discs to be included in the Japanese box set! Hurray!
So here's the contents that would take more than one whole day to view everything...
Absolutely Limited Disc A: "Ultimate! '77 Budokan Stage Box & An Envelope from Hell That Shall Not Be Opened.." contains 9 discs of KISSOLOGY Vol.1 (1974 - 1977), Vol.2(1978 - 1991), Vol.3 (1992 - 2000) and another 9 bonus discs that were attached to the main discs. All the rare video footage from 1974 to 2000 attached...
The Japanese edition exclusive package is very wicked and very KISS - when you open the big thick box the 1977 Budokan show stage set pops up!
Also a special booklet and a Kiss T-shirt circa 1977 will be included, which make this package a true must-buy for any KISS devotees!
※The other box set of 12 discs will be an abridged version of the 18-disc package, containing 9 discs from Vol.1 - Vol.3, with addition of 3 bonus discs out of the 9 attached to the Japan-exclusive special set.
※Vol.1 - Vol.3 will also be separately issued as regular versions.
