Product Description

Import only double-disc album featuring a compilation which captures the rise of one of the UK's most talented blues / rock bands, from their very first session in 1968 [astonishingly, recorded just days after bass play Andy Fraser's 16th birthday] through to their last official recording for the beeb, 'In Concert' for John Peel in July 1970 and includes the rare December 1969 session for Top Gear which never even made it to bootleg. Universal.

フリーは活動期間が短かったため、ライブ音源をそれほど残していません。実にライブ向きのグループだったので残念なことです。 マスターテープの多くが失われ、相当数がポール・コゾフの保管していたエアチェックのリールから復元されたものです。デビュー直後に出演した68年のWaiting on Youは、BBキングの曲。3.I’m a Moverから6.Broad Daylightまでが69年の「トンズ・オブ・ソブズ」発表直後の出演。ここらへんまでは、演奏に勢いがあり若いグループだったことがよくわかる名演であります。7.Woman （69年12月）は、コゾフのギターが冴えておりますが、同時に演奏されていたMr.Bigのテープが使い物にならなかったとのことで、とても残念です。13.Be My Friend （71年）以下はデモテープ並みの出来栄えです。 DISC2のライブは、70年1月（1.The Hunterから4.Remember）、70年7月（5.Fire And Waterから11.All Right Now）の2公演。ラジオのリスナーが個人的に録音していたものなのでしょう。音質は悪いです。しかし、「フリー・ライブ」の同年の演奏であり、なかなか白熱しております。全体としてコアなユーザー、音源マニア向けです。

こんな音源があったとは知りませんでした。 そもそも40年以上前のモノラル録音だし、音質は悪い （特にライブ）けれど演奏は最高です！！！

この格好良さが分からぬならロックを口にするな！…とでも言いたい位。他の超大物バンドも良いが、是非まだ聴いてない若者達に薦める。地味でびっくりするぞ、笑。
