    近年の横溝正史刊行物の中でも群を抜く内容。彼の翻訳ものは過去全くおざなりにされてきたが、最も有名なこの長編２作が手軽に読めるようになった事は非常に喜ばしい。加えてただ復刻しただけでなく、初出誌と初刊本のテキスト比較まで行なっている。巻末の解説・資料も良い。むやみに改変したテキスト・魅力の無い装丁等で横溝正史を粗雑に扱っている角川書店は扶桑社編集スタッフの誠意を少しは見習うべきだろう。ともあれ正史の翻訳ものの多くはまだまだ埋もれたままになっている。１日も早く「横溝正史翻訳コレクション」の続編を早く出して欲し
