    母親のべたべた所、主人公のパイパーのように私も子供の頃、母のそのような部分は大嫌いでした。親との距離感を意識し始める子供、その子供の変化がわからない鈍感な親、そんな時期の、こども心と親心をうまくとらえた作品です。挿絵は、鉛筆画風で彩色はありません。いわゆる「良い子」を描いた作品でもありません。良くない話もありグロい絵もあるので、この本に抵抗を感じる方もいらっしゃるでしょう。ファンタジーの形を借りていますが、ある意味、これが現実なのです。かわいい、良い絵本に飽きた方には特にお勧めです。もちろん、あたなの家の「悪ガキ」にも大推薦です！
