Winston Churchill revealed that the UK had the atom bomb and 'Singing In The rain' was launched onto our cinema screens. It was also a time when popular singers were emerging from being the vocalist with the band to being a star in their own right, which would pave the way for the popular vocalists of the Rock 'N' Roll era.
