ゲルギエフが1993〜98年にかけて集中的に取り組んだリムスキー＝コルサコフの５つのオペラを集めた11枚組ボックス。
　リムスキー＝コルサコフのオペラは、ロシア的な旋律素材を駆使した歌のパートと、ダイナミックで色彩豊かな近代管弦楽法が劇進行にメリハリを与えた傑作揃いで、まさにゲルギエフの芸風にぴったり。発売当時は各国で高い評価を受けていたものです。
　とはいえ、作品の知名度の問題もあってか初回生産分がなくなってしまってからは、それぞれ入手できない状態が続いていたので、今回、それらがまとまってお買得価格で登場するのは朗報といえます。（ＨＭＶ）

作品の解説書は付いているものの歌詞が入っていない。 値段を考えたらしょうがないのか？　 せめてCD-ROMにして入れて欲しかった。 天下のデッカなのだからそこまで手抜きをしなくてもと思う。 国内版の発売をひたすら乞い願う。 収録されている5作品のうち歌劇『皇帝の花嫁』と歌劇『サドコ』が良かった。 歌劇『サドコ』はライブ録音で音ははっきりいって悪いが臨場感があっていい。 歌劇『見えざる町キーテジと乙女フェヴローニャの物語』(ライブ録音)は音楽がいいのだが戯曲がいまいち。 もっと省略できるように思うのだが。
