A most welcome and unique 3 CD aggregation of Giovanni Pergolesi's vocal and instrumental music. Dead at only 26, his music of nevertheless had a remarkable effect upon the Baroque period. He was amongst the first composers to champion the new Italian model of 'opera buffa'. in spite of achieving popularity in Italy, a great deal of his music remained unknown during his lifetime, including the Stabat, his best-known work. The Mass in F is one of only two authentic mass settings by Pergolesi.
