1708年、ローマのルスポーリ候のポネルリ宮で、コレッリの指揮によって上演されたヘンデル若き日の作品。キリストの「地獄の征服」の事蹟を扱ったこのオラトリオは、A.スカルラッティのオラトリオ様式に従ったオペラ風の作品。コープマンの演奏は、編成はシンプルな小編成ながら、劇的さと若々しい生命感にあふれた演奏です。(輸入元情報)
