Richard Strauss spent nearly a decade and a half writing Eine Alpensinfonie, a work describing the impressions of a mountain hike with such clarity that the score could almost be considered film music sans film. Don Juan's premiere (1889) established the reputation of the 24-year-old Strauss as the most important composer since Richard Wagner. Francois -Xavier Roth, one of the most charismatic and enterprising conductors of his generation, took on the role of Principal Conductor of the SWR Sinfonieorchester Baden-Baden und Freiburg in September 2011.

ロト＆南西ドイツRSO　4枚目の R.シュトラウス『アルプス交響曲＆ドン・ファン」を聴いた　音の鳴りと伸びに驚きため息が漏れた　音響の渦にのみ込まれてはいない　カオスなどない　どこまでも透き通って全ての音型が聴き取れる　混濁もない　描写もない　構築された音型が音像を生みそれが歩みだす　それが山歩きであるのか人渡りであるのかの違い　しかし音楽は進む　目的地はなく進み立つことに存在の意味があることをわたしたちに示す　クライマックスを目指していない　先に構築と言ったが　決して建築物ではない　豊かに感じ知り　世界と呼び交わし応え合う「もの」として発せられた音楽がここにある　ぼくらは何を語り合うのだろう　誰といや何と交信するのか　衷心よりこの美しきものを推薦する
