Leda’s solo project with Undivide is really the best thing to happen ever since Deluhi. The only gripe I have with the album is that it really sounds a tad too generic for my tastes. Which isn’t all bad, considering the sound and Leda’s playing style, which is the definitive factor in the bands sound. Took a gander at it when a friend came over with the CD, and I only got to the first half of the album before I got bored. Nevertheless, it’s still got that all too familiar kick that most metalheads love whenever they listen to something new, but still it will sound like something that a lot of bands play to a keen ear. 3 stars in my personal opinion.

Right off the bat, I can definitely define this album as the definitive album for new listeners who want to hear what Monkey Majik has to offer. From the get go, you’re embraced by the diversity in the musical styles and writing patters of the Plant brothers.

Highlights for this album would definitely be ”Change” (collaboration with the Yoshida brothers), ”Sora Ha Marude”, ”Together”, ”Aishiteru” and ”Sakura”, but nevertheless the whole album is pleasant to listen to.

One of the more definitive artists I’ve heard from Japan, so definitely a 5 start from me on this one.

When it comes to the Japanese alternative rock scene, personally speaking my mind is set on Monkey Majik. You just have to agree that the Plant brothers style of writing music aims to soothe, and boy does it deliver.

”Sakura” is the first song I’ve heard of them while I was searching the internet for something new to listen to. I remember the reaction I had on that day when I listened to, take note, the audio. ”Wow, these guys are amazing”. And then I learned they were Canadian, O.O And then I saw the music video, and it bought tears to my eyes from the laughter.

My first listen of Sakura was littered by a plethora of emotions, and by far is still one of the songs I constantly listen to off them.

5 stars for me, it would be a sin personally to give them anything less.

Being quite a fan of the Japanese rock scene for quite some time, ONE OK ROCK came as a surprise for me even back when I was listening to other acts like Ellegarden. The ”crunch” that I’ve been looking for in a band, I’ve been able to experience with ONE OK ROCK, particularly with Niche Syndrome.

Didn’t know what to expect popping the CD in, but when it came on to track 2 ”Never Let this Go”, the roller coaster to epic began. Like all their albums, there’s a lot of diversity to be had with Niche. I gave it a 4 star rating because there’s still a lot more untapped potential that they can exploit, particularly in the writing process.

If you need an album you can headbang or mosh to, this one would be it. Not the really definitive one in that aspect, but nevertheless it delivers.
