このダイナミックさはどうだ！ヒットした前々作辺りまでは、フェイセズ的な小股の切れ上がったタイトさが身上かと思ったのに、前作、今作では70年代のストーンズやレッド・ツェッペリンすら髣髴とさせる王道ぶりを見せつけてくれている。コンピューター・エイジの真っ当な世界認識といったものを、レディオヘッドの『OKコンピューター』に見るとすると、こちらはIT革命って何？くらいの勢い。またこれは個人的な趣味の問題だけど、リーフの場合、アメリカのブラック・クロウズみたいにサザン魂、ロックンロールの伝統といったものが予め用意されていたように思えるのとは逆に、あくまでブリティッシュ・バンドが後天的にロックンロールを血肉化した例を思い起こさせるところが何だかいい(勿論ゲイリーのヴォーカルは先天的に選ばれた人のそれだけど)。このサウンドを笑って済ませようとする人は、例えば初期U2の「熱さ」を笑った人や、ストーンズには脳味噌がない的な言い方をする人と同様の間違いを犯すような気がする。また何といっても前作同様シングル曲がキャッチーで、今回はアルバム一曲目に持ってくる辺り、今時珍しいほどに「正しいロック・バンド」だな、と思う。
