The band's eighth full-length studio recording in all, 'By The Way' reunites the Red Hot Chili Peppers - Anthony Kiedis (vocals), Flea (bass), John Frusciante (guitar), Chad Smith (drums) - with producer Rick Rubin, the man behind 1999's multi-million selling 'Californication'. Picking right up where that recording took off, 'By The Way' combines the best elements of the Peppers' ever-broadening sound - from healthy doses of power-funk on 'By The Way' and the sunny 'The Zephyr Song' to more straighforward rock (the broody 'Don't Forget Me'), revealing the band's increased strength as songwriters.

    前作以上にキャッチーな曲というかポップな曲が増えた感じですが、こういうレッチリも大好きになりました。「ブラッド～」のアルバムの頃のファンキーさは後退していますが、相変わらず曲は最高です。 ④のような悲しい雰囲気を出せるバンドなんです。本当に幅広い人たちだ。もっと違う側面があるなら出してください。あなた方のやることなら、安心してついて行きます！

    古くからのファンですが16曲目のヴェニス・クイーンは リアルタイムで聞いて以来チリペッパーズのベストソングです。 来日公演での演奏では泣きました。 ただ僕はロックファンですしチリペッパーズは ロックバンドだと今も思っているので ポップ思考なアルバムである本作は☆４つにとどめざるえません。 14曲目からの流れは個人的に好きです。

    M1であまりのカッコよさに悶絶、M4のあまりの切なさに涙腺が決壊します。今までのレッチリの中で最もメロディにこだわったアルバムだと思います。きれいなメロディをぶっきらぼうながら一生懸命に歌いあげるアンソニーと、それをサポートするジョンのコーラスが絡み合い、聴いてる人に極上の時間プレゼントしてくれるアルバムだと思います。じっくり聴き込むもよし、車の運転中や部屋でBGMとして流すもよしの非常においしいアルバムです。
