Utada Hikaru’s third album Deep River follows her ’99 debut First Love, which has sold over eight million (!) copies in Japan, and 2001’s Distance. Despite her recent illness, the highly awaited album looks set to be on her mega-hit albums list. Packed with hit singles Sakura Drops, Hikari, Traveling, Letters and Final Distance, though, the whole album hangs together extremely well with her mature voice, emotional singing and sensitive lyrics.

    彼女は10代にして大人のアーティストでしたね。歌もうまく自作の歌も素晴らしいし見た目もかわいらしい。それなのに可愛いげはなかったですね。私はいまいちピンときませんでした。最近ようやく実年齢とあってきた感じがします。

    　アルバムって時間掛かるものだと思うけれど、その割りにコレ？って思う。２ｎｄアルバムの時もそうだった。
