今までに無かった、時代の一歩先を行った音かと言われれば決してそうじゃないと思う。前作Oblivion with bellsが陰なら、Barkingは陽。ただどちらも一歩間違えれば陽にも陰にもなりえる。その辺はリスナーに委ねてる感もある。

この音は、僕を激しくゆさぶる。僕の身体が、ビートに合わせて勝手に動いているのがわかる。Barking!Barking!Barking!...なんて最高なんだ。僕の2010年は、まさにこの一枚に出会うためにあった。

私は今までの彼らの陰陰鬱鬱としたリズム・メロの中に現れるちょっとしたサルベージが好きでした。その一瞬、一気にパっと世界が広がり気持ちが高揚されるのが私なりのUWの楽しみ方。しかし、この新作は最初から最後まで笑顔ニコニコなUWが充満しています。「テクノ＝機械的＝冷徹な」という図式から「テクノでもこんな血肉の通ったマッシブかつハッピーな」というのが大きな変換点なのかも知れません。私なりに感じたコトはそのハッピーさがやや生温いということ。さて、購入された方はどう捉えますでしょうか？以前の彼らの作品には無かったくらいの特別ゲストがフィーチャーされています。枯渇気味のアーティストがよくやる手段と受け取るのは、意地の悪い見方？　聴きやすさでは近年で最も高いかも・・しかし・・ホントに生温い笑顔に溢れた作品だと思う。
