１９７０年EL＆Pのスタジオ録音1st-Albumです。ELPのジャケットの中では、一番好きです。当時のロンドンでは、”TURKUS”のジャケットを着て、ピカデリー・サーカスあたりを散歩するのが格好良かったとか。内容は、結構、地味に思えます。でも練りに練った作品です。「運命の三人の女神、TheThreeFates」でのからみでしょうか、当初のバンド名が「Triton,トライトン 」（半人半魚の海の女神、ギリシャ神話より）という案もあったらしいです。思うに、運命とは凄いもので、KeithEmerson氏は、英国のミドルクラスの家庭に生まれ、少年時よりクラシック・ピアノを弾いていた。その後、銀行員（Cityにいたか否かは知りません）になるも、バンドで下積み生活、Nice結成。この頃か、米国のロバート・モーグ（ムーグ）博士と遭遇し、温度や湿度の関係などで音程の不安定なムーグ・シンセを導入した。そこでかねてからの疑問です。当時のムーグ・シンセの大きいやつもミニ・ムーグも相当、高価だったはずです。 試作品として無償利用したのでしょうか、借金したのでしょうか。「好きな道を志した。あなたは偉い」。感動に感謝します。1 people agree with this review

『ビートクラブ：プログレ編』でオープニングを飾っていたのがＥＬ＆Ｐのナイフ・エッジでした。３人共すげーカッコ良いです。他にイエスやキングクリムゾンも出演しているのですが、ナイフ・エッジばかり見てました。正直、このアルバムで聴くより数段カッコ良いです。ＤＶＤで再発売してほしい・・・。0 people agree with this review
