89年後半～90年頃から本格化するマンチェ・ブーム以前、相変わらずスミス、バニーズ、ジザメリ・フォロワーが大多数を占めていた英シーンの中で、いち早くグルーヴ主義を打ち出していた作品として記憶されるべきワンダー・スタッフのデビュー・アルバム（1988年発表）。アシッド・ハウスにも最先端テクノロジーにも依拠しない人力ロック・グルーヴとその歌はあまりにも新鮮だったが、日本では殆ど話題にならなかった。そしてセカンド『ハップ！』で彼らはその確固たる地位を確立する。

曲が書けなくなった?お金がないから単に金稼ぎ?このファーストの再録をマイルス・ハントはライナーノーツでもっともそうな言い訳をしている。しかし質も理由もかなり悪い。これまでのファンは普通に本当のファーストを聞くだろうし、今新たにファンになった人はファースト等買い揃えて行く中でこのアルバムが最低ランクに位置するだろう。これを引っ下げて9月に来日って!?マイルスも落ちたもんです。がっかりです。
