スウェーデン・ジャズの黄金時代を記録したメトロノーム・レーベルの９枚組ボックス・セット。13年ぶりにデジタル・リマスターで新装された。ブックレットには貴重なジャケット写真を多数掲載。ラース・ガリン、アルネ・ドムネラスなどスウェーデンの名手だけではなく、スタン・ゲッツ、トミー・フラナガン、クリフォード・ブラウン、クインシー・ジョーンズなど、同国を訪れた著名ジャズメンが残した録音も数多く収録されている。幻の名盤として有名なゲッツの『ザ・サウンド』セッションも聴ける。スウェーデンのミュージシャンは、ウエストコースト・ジャズからの影響をより強く受けているようだ。物真似ではなく、ジャズを独自のものにしている。スウェーデン、アメリカ、両方のミュージシャンともに名演揃いであり、ハード・バップの香り高き名演の宝庫である。(信)(CDジャーナル　データベースより)
