演奏自体はなかなか良いが、バレンボイムとしては旧録音・録画のポネル演出の方が各段に素晴らしい。この新盤は衣装、演出ともに音楽の素晴らしさを更に深めている類のものではない。これを見た後にモノクロ映像ながらブーレーズの67年日本公演（全曲）をたまたま見たが、ヴィーラントの演出の傑出した美しさがはるかに鮮烈だった。昨今のモダン演出はもう袋小路に来ているのではなかろうか。近年は演奏技術が上がってきているだけに、演出の不釣合いが余計に目立つ。いまいちの評価は総合的な印象として。0 people agree with this review

バイロイトの観客の評判は芳しくなかったようだが、視覚的には非常に抑制されていながら、イマジネーションをかき立てるいい演出だと思う。山本の衣装もシンプルで美しい。音楽的にも極めて高水準。マイヤーは美人で声絶好調。イェルザレムはコロの様な艶はないけれど、この演出にはむしろ合っている。バレンボイムは特にこのオペラを得意としてるだけに文句なし。ただ今更DVDとは…。ブルーレイ化されるのを待つべきか迷っているところ。0 people agree with this review

抽象的で、端的に言えばアンチ・ロマンティックなハイナー・ミュラー演出には違和感なきにしもあらずだが(特に第２幕)、20世紀末最強の布陣を揃えた演奏の素晴らしさで今も忘れがたい映像。マイアーはメータ指揮、コンヴィチュニー演出(DVDはPALしかない)の方がいっそう強烈だが、ここでも文句なしのイゾルデだし、発声の問題を指摘されることが多いイェルザレムも、トリスタンという死にとりつかれたキャラには実に合っている。バレンボイムの指揮もポネル演出のリリックな印象とは様変わりして、ドラマティックな力にあふれたもの。0 people agree with this review
