本作「DJ Matsunaga - Best Of Sevensenses 2007」は、巷に溢れるトランス・コンピとは一線を画す作品だ。レーベルオーナーDJ Matsunagaが自ら楽曲を全国から公募し、厳正な審査を行った。 その結果、採用されたアーティストは6名。先述のHiroyuki ODA、IGODA、The Originatorsに加え、2006年のベスト盤に採用されたTomoya TachibanaとFavor。最後の1枠を新人のmark kidが獲得。一般公募からの合格者は1名のみという厳しいオーディションとなった。これは、セブンセンシズがもはや海外の主流のトランスサウンドではなく、更にそこから一歩抜きん出た作品を追求していることを意味する。本作を聴いてもらえば分かると思うが、もはやトランスではないといっても過言ではないかもしれない。DJにプレイされる事を第一にするあまり、全体にトラックを優先し平坦な作りの海外トランスに比べ、本作の収録曲はどれもメロディアスで全体に起承転結といったストーリー性があり、非常に表情が豊かだ。これは日本人特有のワビ・サビなのかも知れないが、自然に耳に入ってくる感触で、CDを通して繰り返し、ずっと聴いていても飽きが来ない。それでいて、使われているサウンドはシーンの流行を最新で捉えているので、懐かしさよりも未知の音に触れるような、ドキドキとした感覚を覚える。全体を通して、日本人もここまでの楽曲を作れるようになったのかと感心してしまうだろう。
