アレサとしては「至上の愛」以来15年ぶりのゴスペル・アルバムとなった名盤。「オー･ハッピー・ディ」、「ウィ･ニード・パワー」ではメイヴィス･ステイプルズとがっぷり四つに組んだ貫禄の熱唱を聴かせ、「バッキング･アップ,ゲッティング・レディー･トゥ･ゴー」ではエンディングに相応しい高揚感に包まれる。87年作品。

1987年のライブ録音、それもニュー・ベセル・バプティスト・チャーチは確かお父さんの教会です（他界していますが）。お兄さんやジェシー・ジャクソン、メイビス・ステイプルなどとの共演です。真っ直ぐなゴスペル・アルバムです。相当昔に、ARTHAは「ゴスペルはもう歌わない」と言ったこともありますが、このアルバムは一部の人からはヒンシュクをかったりしたものです。それは評論家といわれる方々はそれがお仕事ですから仕方ありません。我々純真なファンは声を聞けるだけで嬉しいのであって、ただただARETHAに着いて行くだけです。この畑が本職だったわけですから、歌いたくなる時もあるんでしょう。でも真面目な、そして見事なゴスペル・アルバムです。
