HMV Review

This is a likable straight ahead trio date from a pianist based in Northern California. Steve Czarnecki's release does not have any liner notes and he and his sidemen (bassist Frank Passantino and drummer Dan Sabanovich) are obscure but the music is excellent. Czarnecki stretches out on five standards, four group originals and two songs by Jimmy Smith. Stylistically, the grooves range from Ramsey Lewis to McCoy Tyner, with Baomi Butts-Bhanji taking an effective vocal on I've Got You Under My Skin.
