年末にメサイアを演奏するための勉強用に学生の頃散々聴いたＣＤ。、音も良く現代的なメサイアとしては現在も最高峰ではないか。それにしてもハーセスだと思うけど、あまりに素晴らしいトランペットで（笑）、私の様なアマチュアのトランペット吹きとしては参考にならないほどすごい。バロックを前面に出した演奏より、こうした現代的なメサイアの方が私は好きだ。0 people agree with this review

前からショルティは高い意味での中庸の指揮者だと考えていたが、このメサイヤはそのことを納得させてくれる名演だ。短めのフレージングと硬質なリズム、歌詞の重要語句に強いアクセントを与え、それらを洗練された管弦楽演奏に乗せて朗々と響かせている。大編成物に無類の力を発揮するショルティらしい演奏だ。逼塞気味のモダン・オケの指揮者たち、勇気を出してバロックを壮大に奏でよ！1 people agree with this review

古楽器演奏の成果と解釈を随所に取り入れながら、しかし生真面目ともいえるショルティの音楽と向き合う誠実な姿は感動的。無機的、ザッハリッヒというイメージのつきまとうショルティだが、そうした評価はショルティの全てを語るものではない事はこの演奏が明らかにしていると思う。1 people agree with this review
